Why do my hardwood floors need to be professionally cleaned?

Just like everything else in your home, hardwood floors require regular cleaning and maintenance to extend their life. While today's hardwood floor surface coatings do a great job of protecting the floors finish they do not completely protect the surface from everyday wear and tear. Small amounts of dirt and residue on the floors surface and shoes create a abrasive action on the surface, causing a wearing effect on the finish. In time, the protective coat can look dull and eventually wear out, exposing the wood surface. Minimizing surface dirt on hardwood floor surfaces will extend the life of the flooring.

Don’t consumer products clean just as well as a professional hardwood floor cleaner?

The answer is NO. Many consumer products provide a quick surface treatment. While they appear to clean the floor they do not provide the deep cleaning a professional hardwood floor cleaner can. Image taking a shower and soaping up but never rinsing off the soap. That’s how many consumer products work. A professional hardwood floor cleaner will apply a deep cleaning solution followed by a rinsing agent with a professional grade hardwood floor cleaning unit. No cleaning residue remains. In addition to cleaning the surface this powerful unit thoroughly cleans grooves and crevices.

Consumer cleaning products may actually be adding dirt and grime faster to your hardwood floors. The residue left by many consumer products often acts like a magnet, attracting more dirt and grime.

Protect your valuable investment!

Did you know that hardwood floors have become very appealing to many homeowners and potential homebuyers? It’s hard to beat the look of hardwood flooring, especially when it’s in great shape.

In addition to the aesthetic beauty, here's 3 reasons why maintaining hardwood floors makes a great investment.

  1. Lifetime cost — Hardwood floors when properly maintained can last for generations.
  2. Increased Property Value — Well-maintained hardwood floors have become a universal sign of quality. Homes with attractive well-maintained hardwood floors usually sell faster and for more than those with worn hardwood floors or carpets.
  3. Health — Carpeted floors are notorious for trapping allergens. Regular professional cleaning will minimize allergens since they have no place to hide.

What is the hardwood floor cleaning and preservation process?

A.B.E.'s hardwood floor cleaning and preservation system offers homeowners and business owners a way to improve the appearance of their hardwood floors and extend the floors life for generations.

If hardwood floors are neglected and not properly cleaned, the finish can wear through causing loss of stain color and damage to the actual wood. This often requires extensive restoration including complete sanding, staining and refinishing.

This process is expensive, time consuming and inconvenient. It may even require you to move out of your home during the process.

Engineered wood floors can accept only two or three of the treatments described above over a lifetime. The wood veneer can be sanded away and the floors will need to be replaced. It pays to maintain your floors!

A.B.E. offers two affordable alternatives to traditional hardwood floor maintenance. Both are engineered to "Protect and Preserve" your hardwood floors for generations!

A.B.E.'s Hardwood Floor Cleaning System
(Engineered for cleaning of hardwood floors)

  1. A skilled A.B.E. Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation technician will inspect the condition of the floor and determine the best course of treatment.
  2. A quote will be provided to the homeowner.
  3. A service appointment will be scheduled.
  4. The floor surface will be vacuumed to remove larger debris.
  5. Edges around the room perimeter are cleaned by hand.
  6. The entire floor surface is cleaned with a professional extraction machine. Our machine first applies a hardwood floor cleaning solution. Soft bristle brushes scrub the floors surface and cracks. This is followed by a clean water rinse and squeegee extraction process, leaving the floor clear of residue.
  7. Final cloth cleaning is used to eliminate any remaining wet spots.
  8. Floor is ready for light foot traffic at completion of cleaning process.
    Regular traffic in 1 hour.

A.B.E.'s Hardwood Floor Cleaning System
and Preservation System
(Engineered for cleaning of hardwood floors
AND preservation finish)

Unlike traditional sanding methods, our Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation System is engineered to protect the floor's original finish. The floors surface is cleaned with a heavy-duty hardwood floor cleaning solution in preparation to receive a new polyurethane coating formulated to bond to the original coat. Gloss and Satin finishes are available.

How do I know which process I need?

A skilled A.B.E. Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation technician will inspect the condition of the floor and determine the best course of treatment. Not every floor will require the preservation process. Floors that have been well maintained will usually not need the preservation process for many years.

A.B.E.'s Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation System will not work on every hardwood floor. Learn how you can I tell if the Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation System will work on your floors.

Will A.B.E.'s Hardwood Floor Preservation System remove scratches and dents?

Our system does not remove any of the intact, original finish or wood. With a sanding or screening process, where the finish is removed along with some of the surface of the wood, the scratches and dents will be removed, but this is a messy, time consuming and expensive process.

Our system will greatly improve the look of your floor. Most micro scratches that dull your floor will be filled and disappear. Heavier scratches are coated over, but may still be visible. Dents in the wood remain but may also be less visible. Thousands of customers are enjoying the beauty of their hardwood floor again through application of the preservation system. We are sure you will love the results!

How do I know if I can use this process
on my floors?

While most homeowners will see a noticeable improvement from the cleaning and preservation process not all floors are suitable for this service.

A skilled A.B.E. Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Preservation technician will inspect the condition of the floor.

Floors with excessive wear, exposed raw wood and extensive damage are not suitable for this process. In that case floors may require sanding and refinishing or replacement.

"Dog dander removed!”

We purchased an older home in Bethlehem with beautiful hardwood floors. The previous owners had a dog and my husband is highly allergic. A.B.E. Hardwood Floor Cleaning came to our rescue. Even though the floors looked great we were amazed how dirty the water got and how much sediment was in the bottom of the container! Mission accomplished. Dog dander removed! Thanks A.B.E.
